Wednesday 2nd May

Cup Semi-Final

Ashmead vs St Michael's

Ashmead girls took on St Michael's girls on Wednesday 2nd May in the Semi-Final of the cup. The game was very tight with both teams having opportunities to take the lead. However, Ashmead took the lead after 4 minutes when, after good defensive work from Lily G, Ellie and Caitlin E, Sophie was able to pick up the ball in midfield, take it past a couple of players and shoot from the edge of the box to pass the St Michael's keeper. St Michael's then went on to equalise and then go 2-1 ahead before good play between Jasmine, Holly and Sophie saw Jasmine's shot pass the keeper just before the half-time.

With both teams playing excellent football, and with Emma making some good saves in goal, the second half was a tight affair. St Michael's went 3-2 up with some good work from their midfield before our strong midfield of Isla, Holly and Caitlin worked hard to get the ball into the offensive half resulting in a free kick for a hand ball. Sophie stepped up and scored with an incredible free kick to take the game to 3-3 and extra time. St Michael's scored again in extra time to finish the game Ashmead 3 - 4 St Michael's.

The girls have played amazing well all season. Finishing top of the league and reaching a semi-final is a huge achievement for their first season in a league. Well done girls, we are all very proud of you all!

Thursday 15th March

Ashmead 2 - 1 Haddenham Juniors

The girls finished the season undefeated with a 2-1 win over Haddenham girls. With both sides undefeated so far, the game started tightly. Keeper Emma and defenders Lily G, Ellie and Caitlin E made some brilliant clearances to get the ball up to Holly and Jasmine in midfield. Some fabulous passing and moving allowed Sophie to take on the Haddenham defenders and calmly slot the ball home. The second goal followed soon before half-time with Sophie again picking up the ball from midfield and, supported by Holly and Jasmine, edged it passed the goal keeper. The game continued to be tight and subs Lacey, Chloe, Isla and Tara were all fantastic in making tackles, chasing balls and finding brilliant passing. Haddenham pulled one back in the final minute but Ashmead ran out victorious.

We are now champions of the league and through to the semi-final. An absolutely brilliant effort by all the girls. Well done!

The girls had a fantastic first game on grass with a 6-0 win away at Haydon Abbey. The defence were solid throughout the game and Emily's steady hands in goal meant that we kept a clean sheet. At the other end, 5 goals from Sophie and 1 from Jasmine, after brilliant running and passing from all the girls, ensured the win. Well done girls!

Thursday 8th February

Ashmead 10 - 1 Buckingham Park

Monday 4th December

Ashmead 3 - 1 Thomas Hickman

Ashmead got off to a winning start to the season with a fantastic display and victory against Thomas Hickman. A hat-trick from Sophie 'Bev' and a solid defensive display from Lily, Zara and Tara in goal ensured that we came away with the points.

Special mention should also go to Jasmine who ran the midfield, running tirelessly up and down the wing to set up all three goals. It was a great team performance from all the girls and a great start to the season. Well done!

The girls will now enjoy their well-deserved winter break and look forward to the fixtures after Christmas.
