Hello Year 1!
I hope you are all well and have enjoyed a weekend in the sunshine. Firstly, thank you so much to all of you who have written us letters; they are bringing smiles to our faces and we are so impressed with your writing. For those of you who have emailed in photos of your home learning, thank you. We hope you have found them here: https://www.ashmeadschool.org.uk/year-1-4/
Below you will see our new 'Summer Learning' page. On here you will see different sunshines for Maths, Reading & Writing and Topic. There are a variety of tasks for you to have a go at during your learning time at home. Remember to choose the Maths teacher you are with in school and don't panic if things are tricky - this should still be about having fun and making memories at home. Read the WALTs and WILFs carefully to support your learning. Your next Maths, Reading & Writing tasks will be available on June 1st. Below 'Summer Learning' you will find the 'Spring Learning' grids and our new 'Gardening Club'. We hope you enjoy all of the gardening activities at home.
I look forward to seeing your learning, and as always, miss you all and cannot wait to see you all soon.

It's time to TRAVEL TO TOKYO!
I have a very exciting challenge for you Year 1! Miss Venn has set up our very own 'Travel to Tokyo' account to track all of the exercise you are doing at home. As we know, the Olympics has been cancelled this year. But do not fear! You can track your running, walking, skipping, ball games or any other exercise you take part in. I've already tracked my walk and added it to the Year 1 team. Below is the link for you to follow: https://www.getset.co.uk/travel-tokyo/log-activity
Search for our school and make sure you select the 'Year 1' team. I can't wait to see what you have been up to. I know you're a year group that can't sit still, so I'm expecting big things!
Virtual hugs and best wishes!

Hello Year 1,
I just wanted to send you all a message as we enter another week of lockdown. I hope you are all having fun at home, managing some learning tasks and getting your daily reading in. Don't forget... it is totally okay to have a lazy day too! I myself have spent the day watching disney plus, doing some cooking and reading my new book. So adults, don't feel guilty if this is how you plan to spend a day or two next week as well! :-)
I have a challenge for you this week. As we have missed so much time together, I am asking you to remember your favourite memory in Year 1. Write it down, draw it, act it out or maybe you can think of a different way to show us. When we see each other again, we will be able to share all of our favourite memories. For me, I plan to draw a picture of all of your happy, smiling faces when we visited Green Dragon Eco Farm. I might also write some sentences about the day the tractor came to school and you all got to sit in the driver's seat and pretend to be farmers.
Still missing you all and look forward to seeing you soon.

Hello Year 1!
It feels a little bit strange this week as we should have been welcoming you back from Easter holidays and having fun with the start of our new topic. We are all missing you lots and hope that you and your families all safe and well and enjoying the sunshine!
I am hoping you have been enjoying some of the learning tasks we have set for you, that you are still using Bug Club and Numbots and that you are keeping active every day. Remember, enjoying the activity is key! Choose the activities that you think will be the most fun. If you find one a little bit tricky then that is okay - do not worry. Most importantly, make the most of the extra time you are getting to spend with your families. I hope that we can look back on this unusual time with some happy memories spent with our loved ones.
Below there are a few more websites which we think might inspire you with your learning at home:
Remember, reading is very important. Try and read 10-15 minutes a day. Keep practising your phonics sounds - don't forget phonicsplay! Finally, we would love to hear from you. Perhaps you could write us a letter with all that you have been doing and post it to school.
Most importantly, remember to have fun and keep smiling always. We are looking forward to, hopefully, seeing you all soon!

Hello Year 1,
We hope you are all keeping safe and well at home. By now we hope that you have been using the Year 1 home learning calendars below to choose tasks to work through. Don't forget your maths teachers have also created their own calendars for you to have a go at. There are also lots of phonics activities you can be choosing from and we would love you be getting messy and creative at home!
Remember, you should be trying to do a little bit of reading, writing and maths everyday but don't forget to have fun too! If it's sunny, go outside and show your adults what you have been learning in Go Noodle or PE. Play games, make up silly songs and dances and make sure you give your family an extra cuddle before bed each night.
We are all missing you lots and we can't wait to hear about all of the fun things that you and your family have been doing together.
Keep washing your hands!
