After a 3:25am wake up from the children on the first morning, and a very packed day of activities, we all slept extremely well. It was pay back time this morning when the teachers got to wake up all the little people at about 7am for breakfast. All of the children are having an amazing time so far and are so enthusiastic and supportive of each other #bestgroupever.
The sun was shining all day for us yesterday and although cloudy today it is dry. The children are loving the food and easily eating far more than the adults!
Year 6 started the new topic in style last Friday with their 'Character Day'! In Literacy, the children have been reading the opening of Roald Dahl's 'Charlie & the Chocolate Factory' and were set the challenge of creating their own character - the first golden ticket winner! As shown by the photos, the children showed impressive imagination with their costumes and thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Throughout this term, the children will be immersed in the fabulous world of chocolate, including learning about the history and geography of the chocolate making process, from 'bean to bar'. They will also be taking part in the first ever Ashmead 'reading marathon', inspired by Roald Dahl! We are all very excited about what will be a busy, yet fun term ahead!
Welcome back to our new Year 6 classrooms and our brand-new topic 'Fantastic Beasts'. The Year 6 children are well-rested after their summer break and are enjoying their new learning environments and their exciting introduction to our new topic! They have already been busy learning about the Ancient Greeks, building Parthenons, playing Quidditch and writing about mythical creatures! We are all looking forward to what will be a busy year ahead.
