Our Vision

Ashmead is much more than a school; it is an experience shaped by our rich, diverse community and a thematic curriculum that delivers meaningful, new experiences and cultural capital, building magic moments that broaden pupils’ horizons and celebrate their unique identities. We strive to be a place that is exciting to visit and difficult to leave—an inspiring, supportive, and calm environment where every person feels valued, equal, and safe.

We are proactive in delivering excellence through high-quality teaching, which promotes inclusion and has the greatest impact on our vulnerable learners, helping to reduce barriers and enable success for all. Pupils’ thirst for challenge and need for support are met through tailored interventions, responsive assessment, and a consistent belief that every child can succeed. Across the curriculum, we foster high-quality interactions through oracy, recognising how language and communication empower learners to connect, express, and thrive.

We are dedicated to nurturing a genuine love of learning in every child by making education relevant, exciting, and filled with opportunities to discover, create, and grow. Strong relationships lie at the heart of this approach, and effective partnerships with parents, carers, and the wider community enhance opportunity and creativity, ensuring brighter futures for all.

Ashmead gives its children two everlasting things …… One is roots, the other wings.

The phrase “roots and wings” is the golden thread of Ashmead’s vision. Roots provide the foundations of knowledge, character, belonging, and emotional security so that children feel safe, grounded, and supported. Wings foster independence, resilience, courage, and purpose, enabling children to explore, take risks in learning, and contribute positively to the world. By embedding roots and wings across every aspect of school life—relationships, teaching, curriculum, enrichment, and pastoral care—Ashmead transforms each experience into an opportunity for growth, taking children from grounded beginnings to soaring possibilities.
