Ashmead Book Day – Friday 2nd July
In March this year we celebrated World Book Day. The day was a great success, where parents, students and teachers celebrated the day in school and at home. However due to Covid. 19 restrictions, we were unable to celebrate all together and in the same way as usual. We have therefore decided to have a one off event on Friday 2nd July called ‘Ashmead Book Day’. We are looking forward to having all the students and teachers together celebrating the joy and love of reading.
Our chosen theme for this event is ‘Favourite Book’ and on this day we are inviting children to dress up as a character from one of their favourite books. This of course could be a character from any of their favourite books, such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Harry Potter, The Gruffalo or Billionaire Boy, but opens it up to any character from any children’s book. This way there is a wider element of choice for all ages. It would be lovely if children could bring in the book which includes their character to share with their class on this day. There will also be a prize for the best costume for each class! If your child would prefer not to dress up on this day, they should wear school uniform as usual.
As I’m sure you are aware, reading is incredibly important in the development of your child and we aim to foster a love of literature here at school. May we take this opportunity to thank all those parents who regularly read with their children at home; it does make a huge difference.
We are really looking forward to meeting all the different characters on the Friday 2nd July!
