World Book Day!
At the beginning of March we celebrated literacy by participating in World Book Day with the whole school. The children were bubbling with excitement to share their favourite stories and talk about their best characters. In the morning we took turns to visit the 'Creation Station' where a visitor read us a story about pocket monsters. We met the different mini monsters in the story and then designed our own bookmark with our very own mini monster. We spent the afternoon enjoying activities such as making our own book cover containing all of our favourite characters before being visited by mystery readers!
A special visitor!
Towards the end of February we had been reading Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson. We learnt about how the witch created her Truly Magnificent Broom from mixing up her magic spell! We were so inspired that we wrote down our own questions for the witch....just in case we might meet her. Then one rainy Thursday Mabel the Witch flew into Reception on her umbrella! She was all flustered and lost and we helped her to find her Truly Magnificent Broom. We also had the chance to ask her all of our questions such as "What does your cat like to eat?" "How does your broomstick magic work?" and "Where are your favourite places to fly?"
Then she cast a kindness spell and sprinkled some magic dust. We were in awe!
