In Week 5 we discovered a monkey in the department, what was he doing here? Why had he come to our classrooms? We shared the story of Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson and decided that he had lost his mummy and needed to find her. We enjoyed small world play with jungle animals, dressing up and initial sound games in the outdoor area with a jungle theme. Using our discussion guidelines for oracy, we made descriptions of our favourite animal from the story, building on eachother's ideas to create lots of detail.
We practised subitising this week too, we used our magic maths minds to 'see and know' the number in a small quantity of objects.
We were also excited to take home our first reading books!
