Ashmead School

Ashmead provides its children with two everlasting things, one is roots, the other wings.

Mental Health Support Team (MHST)

One in 10 children between the ages of 5-16 years, or three children in every classroom, have a diagnosable mental health difficulty. The Bucks Mental Health Support Team (MHST) supports young people who have emotional wellbeing difficulties, including anxiety and low mood, confidence and self esteem issues.

Ashmead is now linked with a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) who will be helping to support children's mental health and giving support to parents. For more information on MHST click the following link: https://www.oxfordhealth.nhs.uk/camhs/bucks/mhst/

Our link workers are Molly Curtis and Leilah Mccaffrey.

The team will be supporting Ashmead with two programmes for parents:

  • Helping your child overcome fear and worries (supporting anxiety)
  • Incredible Years (supporting challenging behaviours

For our children, MHST will be running a programmed called 'Team of Life'. This programme focusses on the following:

  • Children decide who they would like to think of as being in their ‘team of life’ from among their family, friends and other people who are important to them.

  • Recognising the skills in their teams helps them to build confidence.

  • Drawing how they worked together with their team to achieve a goal is an innovative way of telling stories of achievement and hope.

  • Children are reminded that celebrating goals with a team is much more fun than on your own!

  • Being part of a team makes it easier to think about how to tackle problems together.

  •

If you have any questions or would like to discuss the possibility of you and your child being referred to MHST, please contact Ms Fernandez or Miss Lubbock.
