Ashmead School

Ashmead provides its children with two everlasting things, one is roots, the other wings.

Week 6

Owls Owls Owls!

We have been very busy researching different types of Owl from around the world. We looked at Barn Owls, Snowy Owls and White-faced Scops Owls. Here are some facts that we all found out:

"Did you know, a white-faced scops owl is also known as a transformer owl? This is because it can puff itself up and also make itself skinny."

Interestingly, there are 9000 Barn Owls in the UK.

Strangely, barn owls don't build their own nests. They search for abandoned nests in church towers, hollow trees and farm buildings.

Snowy owls don't live in trees. Amazingly, they can rotate their heads 270 degrees.
