Ashmead School

Ashmead provides its children with two everlasting things, one is roots, the other wings.

Week 11

Haiku Poetry

We have enjoyed learning about 'Haiku' Poems this week (pronounced "Hi-koo"). These poems originate from Japan and are usually written about nature and animals. The other interesting thing about Haiku poems are that they follow a pattern of 5 syllables - 7 syllables - 5 syllables. As it's Spring, we decided to choose some spring animals and flowers to base our poems on. We took some time to think of interesting vocabulary, as well as the challenge of finding words with different syllables!
