Copy of Letter: Warner Brother's Studio Tour 2022

Friday 23rd September 2022

Dear Parent / Carer,

As you will already know, all the Year 5 and Year 6 students will be attending a trip to the Warner Brothers Studio: The Making of Harry Potter in Leavesden in the first week of October as part of our Fantastic Beasts topic. The classes will be going on the following days:

Monday 3rd  October: 5BR and 6SN

Tuesday 4th  October: 5CH and 6JK

Thursday 6th  October: 5MOR and 6CS

In the run up to our trip, we wanted to confirm the logistics and details for the day of your child’s trip:

  • 8:30-8.45am - Please can all children arrive in school as normal in full school uniform. Those children who attend Breakfast club should do so as normal.
  • Morning of the trip – To help us get ready for the full Warner Brothers experience, the children will be watching Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in their classrooms with their class teacher. Please confirm your permission to watch the film below (this film is rated a PG).
  • 11:20am - We will be having an earlier lunch at school, children will therefore need either a packed lunch or to have ordered a hot school meal.
  • 12:00pm - Coach to leave Ashmead.
  • 1.30pm – One hour lesson called Screenplay Stories with the Warner Brother’s Studio Education Department.
  • 2.30pm - Tour
  • 5:30pm – Coach to depart Warner Brothers Studios. Children will need to bring a healthy afternoon snack (for example fruit or a cereal bar), which they can have either on the coach after the tour or there is an opportunity in the middle of the tour for us to sit down and have a snack.
  • 6:30pm - We anticipate our return to be at approximately 6:30pm, depending on traffic.

On returning to Ashmead, the coaches will need access to the school playground. If you are driving to collect your child, please ensure you do not park on Blythe Close so that the coaches can get through.

After the trip, children are to be collected from the main reception (not the playground) and, due to the late return, we are asking that all students be collected instead of walking on their own.

Things to bring:

  • Full school uniform
  • Appropriate footwear for walking around the tour (we suggest trainers or comfortable flat shoes)
  • Healthy afternoon Snack
  • Drink
  • Any medication, including travel sickness tablets, that your child may need in a named bag.

(If the school already have specific medication for your child e.g. Ventolin inhalers or epipens then we will take these with us.)

  • No phones to be brought in on the day of your child’s trip. As we will have no home walkers, we ask that all phones be left at home.
  • The children will have to carry whatever they bring with them. This includes coats. Unless the weather is torrential, it may be worth leaving coats at home as we will not be outside much.
  • A small light bag, which they can carry, to have their water bottle and snack in.

Due to the number of incredible things that we want the children to see on the trip and also the expensive pricing of items, we will not be taking the children to the gift shop. Please do not send your child in with any money to spend, as we will not have time to stop there.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to ask myself or your child’s teacher.

Many thanks,

Miss Nicholls

Year 5 & 6 Team Leader
