Ashmead School

Ashmead provides its children with two everlasting things, one is roots, the other wings.

Week 4

We had an Owl visit!

We were so lucky to invite Sue to our school on Tuesday. She brought 4 owls to show us. We saw a barn owl, tawny owl, long eared owl and a tengmalm owl. We really enjoyed seeing the owls up close! Thank you Sue for telling us all sorts of cool facts about owls.

Did you know there are more than 9000 species of owls in the UK?

Interestingly, owls can't move their eyes so they turn their heads instead. All owls can rotate their heads 270 degrees. Strangely, owls have asymmetrical ears (wonky) which means they have 1 ear high and 1 ear low.
