History
Crime and Punishment
In our History lessons this week we have been looking at crimes and punishments in WWII. We have learnt that the main crimes that occurred during WWII included looting, the black market and an increase in murders! This was all due to the blackouts from The Blitz and from rationing. We had a look at a ration book and tried to understand how much of a hardship time was back during WWII. We then set up a courtroom in our classroom! We had a judge and security guard, a prosecution team, a defence team, a jury and - of course - some criminals! In light of all the evidence, the criminals were found GUILTY by Judge and Jury! Have a look at some of our photos from our brilliant actors below...

Happy 100th Birthday, Nan! We hope you have a lovely day celebrating.

Children's Mental Health Week
This week is Children's Mental Health Week - something we think is really important. We have been conducting some research and thinking about things we can do in and out of school to help us with our mental health. Have a look at some of our brilliant ideas...

Spring Term Science
This term in Science have been looking at space. We have found out loads of information about the planets (ask us about some of the facts we have learnt!) and have researched how day, night and seasons occur. Have a look at our posters below - it is a collection of all our best work. Each week, Mrs Short chooses a piece of work to go on the wall for our learning journey in the classroom. This is based on presentation, content and effort. This week it was too hard for her to choose so we have one on the wall and ten on the website! Enjoy!

Spring Term - DT day
Crime and Punishment
We started off the term and our brand new topic - Crime and Punishment - with an exciting DT day! We were tasked with building a bridge to access a new high-security prison which has just been built on an island. We tested out six types of bridge first - suspension, arch, beam, cable, truss and cantilever. We discovered that a 'truss' bridge had more stability because it was made from triangles (which is a sturdier shape than a square). We looked at how compression and tension were both needed to build a stable and strong bridge. Having decided on a design, we needed to build and then test our bridges ensuring we were constantly displaying good team work. Have a look at our structures below!

Fantastic Beasts Day
We have had a FANTASTIC day today! We spent the morning learning about teeth and healthy diets! This afternoon we have been learning and performing a Greek Myth - the Minotaur! This was a lot of fun! Finally, we learnt how to play Quidditch - complete with bludgens, broomsticks and even a few wigs! Have a look at our photos below (you might spot some famous characters...)

Indoor PE - Dance
In Indoor PE this term we have been focusing on Dance. We have been looking at 'The Carnival of the Animals' by the French composer, Camille Saint-Saens. The piece of music is a humorous collection of fourteen different sections, each section based on a different animal. We then worked in groups to create our own dances representing our own animals, inspired by the music by Camille Saint-Saens. Can you guess which animals we have chosen? We hope you enjoy our dances - we have worked incredibly hard all term!

Warner Brother's Studio Trip!
We all had an absolutely fantastic trip to Warner Brother's Studios last week! We saw so many props and scenes from the Harry Potter movies and made so many amazing memories. We battled real-life death-eaters (with our pencil wands), ventured inside Hogwarts Great Hall and the House on Private Drive, and even got to learn how they make troll bogies! The teachers and staff from the Studio all commented on how amazingly behaved Ashmead children were and I don't think we stopped smiling all day (as you can see from our photos below!) We hope you enjoy looking :)
