Year 4 and 5 2021/2022

Welcome to Year 4 and 5!

We've had a great first week getting to know the children and introducing them to their Autumn term topic 'Raiders of the Lost Empire'. All of the children have settled quickly into their new classes and we're very excited to watch them grow and develop across the year.

On this page we will be sharing timetables, photos of school life and Star of the Week awards.

Here's to a great year!

Curriculum

Below you will find some information about homework, equipment the children need to bring in for specific lessons and ideas for extra support the children can be given at home.

Summer Term

For the Summer Term our topic is Family Trees and Rivalries. We are going to focus on the Tudor family, beginning with Henry Tudor and moving on to Henry VIII and his six wives. We are all very excited to immerse the children in our new topic!

Spring Term

Happy New Year! We hope you've all had a restful holiday. We were excited to welcome the children back to school and to introduce them to their new topic- Water Warriors! This term, we will be learning all about the Vikings and our English will be focused around the book 'The Saga of Erik the Viking'.

Children's Mental Health Awareness Week

This week we have been learning all about why mental health is so important. Year 5 have created some fantastic hot air balloons to show who is important to them and who is there to support them.

First Aid Training

All of Year 4 and Year 5 took part in first aid training in school this week. They learned how to make a sling out of their uniform; how to put somebody in the recovery position and how to perform CPR on somebody who isn't breathing. Every child received a certificate to celebrate their new learning. Well done children!

Roman Day

On Wednesday 20th October, Years 4 and 5 had our very own Roman Day. We had great fun dressing up, building chariots, baking Roman biscuits and creating our own art work using mosaics. A great day was had by all and the children looked amazing in their Roman outfits!

Have a look at our fantastic classroom displays!
